Ang is a quasi-professional artist currently living in Providence, Rhode Island with her husband Ben, who wants to be Sub-Zero when he grows up.

She was born in West Islip, New York on a very long island, and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of five. She graduated from Northeast High School in St. Pete in 2000, and went on to attend the International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa where she received her degree in Interactive Media. She joined her family in Rhode Island a few months later after a short stint in New York. She currently works as a graphic designer and assistant TV producer in downtown Providence.

Angela began drawing anime-related artwork in 1998, and can't quite seem to stop. So she thought it would be a good idea to try to market some of her work at shows, and now you can see her at some of the Northeast US Anime, sci-fi and gaming conventions, or whatever she lists that she is attending on the schedule page of the site.

FAQ:

When did you start drawing?
I've been a doodler most of my life. I decided I wanted to be an artist probably sometime in elementary school. Though my primary career focus through most of high school was actually Meteorology. Weather kicks ass.

What are your favorite mediums?
My primary choice is colored pencil of the Prismacolor brand, but occasionally I dabble in charcoal and pastels. I also use the following other brands:  Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils for sketching and drawing, Copic Multiliner pen set A-2 for outline and fine detail work (They range from an incredibly thin .03 point up to 1.0!) and the ever-so popular and reliable Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen set of 4 in black for stronger lines.

Where do you get your supplies?
Although Providence has a world of art stores including the RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) store and Utrecht on Wickenden Street where I frolic often, I like to order supplies online at
Dickblick.com when I'm too lazy to walk across town, or visits the Blick Store in Boston near Fenway Park.

You don't do digital art?
I do digital art for a living, why would I want to do it for my hobby too? Don't get me wrong, I DO have some digitally colored pieces, you'll see them in my mixed media gallery, and when I scan my drawings I do touch them up before posting them online, but I don't make it a habit to digitally color every single thing I do. I don't have a WACOM tablet, and even though I have good control over a mouse, there's only so much patience I have. Plus, us pencilers seem to be a dying breed! I'm also a big fan of having an actual HARD COPY of the art I create. If you color something digitally, and gods forbid your computer crashes....o.O

Why do you always get into Anime Boston's Artist Alley every year and I can't?
Because I'm a paranoid lunatic who sits on the computer all day and doesn't move until the form goes live. Then when it does I have a small seizure as I enter the information on the form, take a hit of my albuterol inhaler and pray the nightmares stop. Funny thing is...I'm not joking. In fact, the IDEA of me having to sign up for Artist Alley on an annual basis causes me to become anti-social and exhibit signs of borderline personality disorder. I shun my family and friends for weeks ahead of time as I grow increasingly unstable. I stop eating, I stop sleeping, and stop going to work. Once I'm confirmed in the alley, I slowly become back on track despite the looks I receive from passers-by who by chance think I could be slightly unhinged, and become ashamed of constant concerned questions. The trick is to be diligent, and watch the convention's forums for announcements. Especially the day the form goes live. It's madness, it's Sparta, and there's drama.

What does Kaousuu mean and when did you start this website?
Kaousuu.net was founded in 2001 to serve as my digital portfolio website for school. When that bottomed out, I retained the domain name for my art site. Kaousuu the word itself is a stylized version of kaosu, a Romanized Japanese word for chaos. Kaosu.net was taken, so I added a few U's. I went through a phase when I was just delving into Discordianism and Chaos Theory, I had a character named Lady Chaos who had split personalities Kaosu and Muchitsujo so yeah....I was a weeaboo fangirl.

Last year I was thinking of replacing Kaousuu.net with my now-blog site, Southsideofthesky.net, which in my opinion sounds a bit more romantic and better fits my art, but since all of my promo materials say Kaousuu, and because I'm too lazy to change graphics and DNS servers, Kaousuu is what it is and it is here to stay.

Where did you get your domain/Where do you host/do you host friend's sites?
All of my domains except for one that I've owned to date have been through Godaddy.com, it's the cheapest place on the interweb. My host is Shieldhost, they had some kinks in the past but since they've updated their servers, everything has been great. Plus they are SUPER affordable and generous with their packages. I have a lot of junk on my web space, and I'm still just on their starter package.

I do NOT host friend's or acquaintance's sites. I can't be responsible for your stuff on my server and I have enough junk on there already. If your bandwidth kills my site, I would do terrible things to you in your sleep, and we can't have that, can we?

I hope I've answered everything the world needs to know.
Thanks for visiting!
